Don’t Worry About Date Risk, Cellphone Offers Extra Cover
A new application which can prevent you from date rape.
Today, online dating is a common way to find a date. However, one of the major problems is lack of knowledge about the other person’s character. This makes the proposition to meet your dating partner in person pretty dangerous especially for the girl. Recently, I stumbled on news about a new iPhone application developed by Date Tracker Alert LLC, which aims to remove this risk by certain extent. This software sends out warning signal to 4 emergency number saved by the user in his iPhone. The warning signal is triggered if the user does not check in the application in the predetermined time to click on the option of “I’m Ok”. This can help in getting the required help to user in the appropriate period of time.
However, there are few points which came to my mind as I did not came across those points. It might be possible the company might have considered it. The points are:
1) What if the user forget to click on “I’m Ok” option. This is because it might be possible that the user can forget to click on the option if she feels that it is safe and might get lost in the conversation. Now, if the message is sent without telling the user that it is sending the signal, it might be possible that the software might actually be sending a lot of false positive signals, which might ruin the relationship of the people. Over the period of time it might even reduce the effectiveness of the software.
2) What if the person, whom user is dating already know about such software and might plan to make its move once the user has switched of the warning signal.
3) It might be also possible that the time set for the warning signal might be too long or short for it to be of some real efficacy.
Hence, I believe that such points should be taken into consideration before launching the product into the market to make it effective.

Good to know this but i don’t get into this.
I am very intrigued by your analysis. It is thoughtful, yet there are some answers if you have used the app. 1. The user is given a reminder to check in before the check in time. The emergency contacts can unsubscribe to alerts if they are unfounded or bothersome.
2. Very good thought, but the app user can change the check in time and resave the date. There is also a user name and password so the date can not get into the phone to alter any info.
3.The time set is really up to the comfort level of the app user, so if the date is very good at fooling a person, the up side is at least someone knows to come looking. I am thinking of a famous Spring Break case involving a bad guy that was the son of a judge. It is difficult to go after these rich bastards, but if an alert names them at least it is just cause to pursue them.
I don’t know if there are any good answers, but a little extra protection make me feel better.
Hi Ceegirl and Maureen,
I am thankful for your comments on my article.
@ Maureen:Its great that you have cleared some of the confusion about this product. However, still, I feel there might be few scenarios which might not have got covered in your answers. I planning to mention about my scenarios in its part 2.
